Washdown bearings: what fails first in a bakery

A 2RS deep groove in a mild-steel housing will live in a dry plant. On a bun line with a hose, the seal lip sees caustic, the grease emulsifies, and the housing rusts under the paint.

What we actually specify: a housed unit that drains, a seal that is meant to see water, and H1 grease if product is nearby. Stainless or composite housings where the hose lives.

If the line is already down, we will get you a bearing that fits today and talk about the housing tomorrow. Bring the old insert — the number is often gone.
